Seawinds Motel is located on the Annapolis Basin, in the historic town of Digby, Nova Scotia.
The original property was purchased by a Sea Captain who had a long career as a master mariner, engaging in coastal shipping on the East Coast. He eventually built his home on the property because of the picturesque location on the Annapolis Basin.
During World War II, the property became home for Canadian Navy Officers stationed at CFB Cornwallis. When the war ended, the owner decided to convert the property to accommodate the tourist industry, naming it The Tea Cup Inn.
The property changed hands several times until Commander Robert Wigmore purchased this property in the 1970s and used it as a rental property.
In 1983, Richard VanTassell then acquired the property and in 1991, decided to do an extensive renovation and opened the Seawinds Motel.
